project 1
contemporary, modern, organic
Our client's beautiful contemporary home needed a landscape refresh. Blending a modern contemporary style with a slightly wild and organic look was quite the task. To keep the garden in alignment with the traditional forms in the neighborhood, we proposed some boxwood parterres in a modern rectilinear form with muhly grass and gaura for a bit of a natural and wild look behind the structure of the boxwood hedge. Eugenia globes with contemporary concrete spheres add structure and visual interest near the entry way. They also break up the parterres to add some rhythm and balance. Pinwheel jasmine and gardenia are also incorporated for beautiful white flowers and fragrance.
Contemporary Eugenia globes and concrete spheres were added by the entryway to provide some structure and visual entrance as you approach the front door.
Gary's signature wire trellis added to a blank wall behind the existing pool for Star Jasmine to grow on and provide a decorative backdrop. Lomandra and stones were added in front to fill out the landscape under existing Palms.
A close up of the Eugenia globes and concrete spheres. This pairing provides a wonderful modern aesthetic. False Agave stands out in the background in the exiting planter on the column for contrasting texture and form.
A new seating area nestled under an existing canopy tree in a bed of pea gravel. Boxwood parterre with Oakleaf Hydrangea and Pinwheel Jasmine surround the seating area for beautiful white blooms. A potted citrus plant will provide fragrance when in bloom.
